Cleaning Fruits & Veggie
When I first started cooking on my own, I remember getting a batch of fresh fruit and vegetables from the farmer's market that had dirt all over them. It wasn't a big deal but I wanted to make sure I got all of the dirt off.
What did I do? I put soap on my fruit and veggies. That was a mistake (I really don't know why I thought that was a good idea)! tasted like soap even after rinsing them over and over.
That was a silly mistake I made but later found out a much more effective way to clean what I brought home: vinegar and water. The acids in vinegar help take off any glue left behind by stickers and sanitize your produce.
Instructions
- Using a large bowl, mix 3 parts water and 1 part of vinegar (white or ACV)
- A safe amount would be a few table spoons of your vinegar of choice
- Put your produce in the bowl and let them soak for 5 - 10 minutes
- Pour out the mixture and rinse your produce
Eat & storage your fruit and veggies according to its shelf life!
